19th Birthday Ideas - Part 1

I finally have an Iphone (woohoo), which I am so excited about. It means that it is easier for me to take ootd images and to create/edit funky images like the ones below.

So,
My 19th birthday is coming up in November! (15th to be exact) Which is so exciting, although I don't feel 19, nor do I act it.

This post is one of a three part, they are in no particular order and I know I will not be receiving all from my family, if any at all of the specified, but I love these types of posts on other blogs and thought I would do myself.

So my first moodboard for my birthday.

  • I adore this scarf from Zara! At just £19.99 I think it is beautiful, the colours are so autumnal and wintry and will look fabulous with my Khaki Parker and this is an item that my Mum is aware of... ha!
  • Mum and I both love scarfs, she is the one who always told me that if your neck/chest is covered the rest of your body will more than likely be/stay warm. This trick has not failed me once, so take it on board!
  • The next item is "Bloom Kimono" from Topshop (£45). Kimono's have been a massive hit so far in the late Summer/Autumn trends and this one particularly caught my eye as Winter seems to send me down a "dark" clothing line with many blacks and deep blues which wash out my skin tone.
  • Kimono's however definitely need to be layered on top of so If you don't feel like you have the money for a Kimono, save it and purchase a beautiful knitted cardi to keep you warm but still looking stylish!
  • Shoes, what girl doesn't love shoes? Boots are a fashion essential for Winter and I have yet to purchase a pair of boots for this year! These cute, little black ankle boots - "Milly Metal Insert Boots" are £68 from Oasis.
  • Boots are also brilliant for the British weather, ballet pumps and canvas shoes (converse or vans) are not good in the rain. Nor would I advise wearing Uggs in the rain, it ruins them. Therefore boots are perfect!
  • I have a weakness for Shirts and blouses. Polka dot seems to be a trend that doesn't necessarily "go out" of fashion, or if it does it soon comes back around and is worth holding onto.
  • This shirt is short but not cropped, it is a beautiful baby blue colour and could be worn on a night out or for a general day trip. It is £32 from Topshop and in store it was paired with a short chunky gold chain to glam it up a little.

Hope you have enjoyed this style of post. Let me know if you have and look out for post 2 and 3.

University Freshers Week

Freshers Week.

For most individuals "Freshers Week" screams alcohol, partying, new area and UNIVERSITY. That's right, I have headed to university in Sheffield.

And we are off!
(quick OOTD from when I set off) - Jacket from Topshop and Jumper H&M

The first few days were strange however you have to remember that everyone is in the same boat. My accommodation layout is strange and I am still getting used to the fact that it is inward facing, although it gives a more communal feeling it is strange looking in and being able to see people in their rooms and kitchens.

So when I come to film my youtube videos that should be interesting!

The bins are just full on Domino's Pizza boxes and empty bottles that were once full of alcohol beverages. Can you say the 600 of us at Central Quay are fulfilling the "typical" stereotype of a uni student?

You will find in most university students rooms that they have decorated their room with photos galore and things that make the room feel more homely because in the first few weeks especially you will want an area that you feel comfortable with when you are still a bit unsure in your hall surroundings and the individuals in your halls.

My pinboard is surrounded by a few photos that never fail to make me smile and an academic calendar as I always seem to loose the track of days.

I have had a slight upgrade in bed size from home to uni. I have gone from a single to a 3/4 and the difference is insane. It's brilliant! However I bobbed home on friday night and going t back to my own bed was strange, it seemed so much smaller!
I have piled on the pillows and blankets although I am more likely to overheat in my uni room than freeze, so maybe I will keep the blankets hidden and we will see in they make an appearance in winter.

To my knowledge of Sheffield so far Plug is the most popular club and after spending my first night at uni in a flat party the second night we ventured into town and ended up in Plug, it was packed with university students and we ended up going back to plug last night.

Thursday evening consisted of university students doing what they do best, drinking and starting to drink at 7:30pm as we all embarked on a bar crawl. The bar crawl was North vs Midlands vs South.
Of course I was a Northern  Nancy!

Tonight is the final evening of "Freshers Week" so I will update you on how freshers week ends, hopefully with a big bang!

This evening is going have to wait however as this afternoon is going to consist of me finishing my first university assignment for tomorrow! Can you believe I got an essay in the first week? Yep, we can't forget that we came to university to gain a degree and that the social life is just a bonus.

If you are at univerity or about to start I hope you have a lovely time and make the best of it.
If you have gone back to school/college or work I hope that you also have a reason to smile daily.

Sorry for such a long post although due to me lacking on blog posts this month I believe you deserve it.

Speak soon.

TopShopLipstick Ohh La La - Swatch and Review

Yesterday I bobbed into TopShop to take took a look at their make-up collection and I did indeed spend, although I am trying to save for University.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of make-up in my local Topshop store. I am a rather indecisive person so the large collection made it even harder for me to choose a lipstick shade. However I finally ended up purchasing a light peachy coral lipstick - Ohh La La.

My first impression of the lipstick (although we don't judge a book by its cover) comes from the packaging. Its a cute simple pattern in ivory and black however after only having it a day you can see in the top image it is prone to scratching and due to it being ivory, it may stain easily.

The lipstick itself is a nice formula, it is rather creamy and therefore the application can look uneven if your lips are a little dry. I would recommend moisturising your lips before you apply the lipstick as it can stick to the dry patches, however a coat of lip gloss on top will even the patches out and add more shimmer.

The lipstick looks nicely pigmented in the swatch above however it is more subtle on your lips resulting in it being a perfect Spring lipstick. The coverage is medium and the finish only slightly matte. The duration of the lipstick is around 2 hours therefore if you are wearing it for a special occasion, keep it in your purse as you will need a top up.

Do you have any items from Topshop's make up collection?

Opening blog post - Set up day's OOTD

So here we have it, my first post on chitchatwithbecks!
Take a look!

Having set up my blog this morning with the intention to post beauty, fashion and lifestyle posts I thought why not do my Outfit Of The Day and share with you guys the outfit that I am wearing right now, as I begin my blog.

I am the type of person that no matter what top/cardi/jacket/blazer I am wearing I am more than likely going to roll up the sleeves (as shown above) and this isn't exactly the best habit.

Blazer - Soft shell pink blazer from New Look at £19.99 (I believe)
Top-  £4 in the sale from Next
Jeans- MOTO Vintage high waisted Joni Jeans from TopShop at £36
Shoes - All Star Converse Low Tops in Maroon at £44.99 from Office. (As my blog posts continue you will see my love or maybe a slight obsession for converse!)

Above is a close up of the top half where you can see my accessories which are my usual day to day accessories.
Statement Heart Pandora ring on my right hand, middle finger. On my left arm I have my watch, pandora bracelet and on my left hand a silver swirl ring on my thumb from camden market, London.

The lipstick I am wearing is Kate Moss's collection with Rimmel - Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick at £5.49 in shade 05 which is a bright and bold pink, however I have added a layer of lip balm which dims down the vibrant colour and adds a subtle shine.

The nail polish I have on is Barry M Hi Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish in Guava at £3.99 and I love it!

So there we go, one post down and hopefully many more to come.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy
Love
